Please follow Forward Slash Records

My current musical endeavors of DJ Raw NastyUnwilling But Able, and my production work with Hammy and others all flow out of my record label Forward Slash Records. It now has a Tumblr page. It would super cool if you followed it!

Manifiesta! :: The Fascist Manifesto

Hola! Manifiesta! is finally on Mix Tape Files! Yuss. Manifiesta is a weekly radio show on KWCW 90.5 FM Walla Walla (listen live @ www.kwcwradio.tumblr.com) on MONDAYS, 7-8 PM. We’re also going to start recording our shows…. soooon.

This is the playlist we created to go along with the Fascist Manifesto of 1919. The manifesto is incredibly progressive and liberal. Fascism didn’t really turn out that way. So, between lines of utopian manifesto, we played songs that we felt illustrated the realities of fascism as it’s played out in history.

chilling: patiently iconic part vi (the final installment)

patiently iconic part vi by Mix Tape Files on Grooveshark

So when I posed what may be my last theme (given the uproarious response from my fellow playlist gurus), I was thinking of the term “chilling” as synonymous with “haunting.” However, when I began to formulate what I wanted from this mix, I realized what I needed this list to represent were tracks that somehow manage to wiggle their way under my skin. Songs that burrow in, whether invited or not. Chilling to the bones, if you will. I think I’ve captured a few good ones here. Oh, and I promise that whether I return to make a new playlist beyond this point or not, this will be the end of the “Patiently Iconic” series.

Raw Nasty still reigns

Ditching the label, chilling

Our label is lost. Our talent has gone to Forward Slash Records. Google it.

The word of the month is: Chilling.

Here goes my collection of songs longer than 7 minutes. It’s been awhile since I made a playlist, I know, but I’m back now.

Our new path

Today, I am pleased to announce a massive retooling of our organization. Starting tomorrow, Mix Tape Files will begin a merger with The Grey Pilgrim Music, the music wing of The Grey Pilgrim Company.

MTF will continue to operate in the same way, but will now incorporate a record label, which will use the MTF name and branding. All of the artists currently represented by TGPM will make the transition to the new realm, and we perceive this to be an exceedingly smooth transfer.

smells like curry vol III: Odyssey

I love me a good odyssey.

These are my favorite songs over 7 minutes.

And yeah yeah, I know I suck at updating this site. But man, life has been killer!

praise: patiently iconic part iv

I’m pleased to present the word of October: praise. It seems I am the only site editor who still enjoys this project, seeing as how I was the only one to participate in September’s trance. Here I am again, ever vigilant.

For praise, I thought I’d take it to worship music. But not the kind you’re thinking of. Not Christian rock, or anything like that. Instead, I went with what might be considered the worship music of whatever artist I present here. What they might use to pray with. Perhaps.

trance: patiently iconic part iii

This month’s theme was supposed to represent “trance.” In theory, that would be music that is classified in that actual genre. But when I went to make my playlist, I kept finding myself in a bit of a paradox. What is technically trance music puts me on edge. I don’t dislike it, but there’s nothing trance-like about my state when I listen to it.

So what resulted was a strange combination of tracks that let my mind wander, yet still draw me in and remain memorable. Hope you like it.
